DIY Livery - Horse Owner's Responsibilities
Kingswood has operated as a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Livery Yard since the early 80s. That means exactly what it says: customers do all the work relating to their horses themselves. This includes taking complete care of their horses attending to them twice a day, mucking out and keeping their box and the yard clean, buying and getting in such fodder and other necessities required and storing them safely, turning out to graze and picking up droppings, and more generally cooperating with the management and with other horse owners to ensure the yard runs smoothly and in a friendly fashion.
If you are unable to get to the yard you will need to make alternative arrangements, though at most yards DIY owners do get together to share chores. The owner of horses may hire in a person who will provide services. For example, a recent customer provides some services but any arrangement is between the horse owner and the person who provides services. The owner of Kingswood livery stables does not provide any services.
