Kingswood Livery Stables offers D.I.Y Liveries or Grazing Only, on 35 acres of well kept pasture with good sized boxes and use of a full sized modern schooling ring.
The owner lives at Kingswood.
The family originally farmed in Norfolk. When the farm was sold, the family returned to Sussex, downsized and bought Kingswood in 1970. Kingswood had been used as a pig farm and extensive overhauls were made to the attractive 18th century buildings to convert them into spacious stables. The owner's daughter Janet had ponies from the age of eight, served an apprenticeship in a professional showing & show jumping yard. In 1971, Janet did full & part Livery, bought & sold ponies & horses, and bred show ponies. In 1972, the remaining stables were rented to Captain Ryan Price for his overspill of racehorses for several years. In 1973 two friends took over the stables while Janet travelled to Australia & New-Zealand for six months. On returning home Janet decided she didn't want to do full and part livery. She moved to London, trained as a Therapist and worked in a Health Farm, and then worked freelance with Film & Theatre clients. In the meantime Captain Price took over all of the stables. He left in the 80s. Then we began to provide one of the first DIY yards in the area which has continued ever since.
